Texas Holdem Strategies To Improve Your Game

Monday, September 27th, 2010

Playing Texas Holdem by applying strategies is one way you can really benefit out of the game. Beginners follow the strategies that are developed and followed by expert players. Texas holdem is a very popular game and has rules that are easy to follow, since this variation of poker is easy to follow and play winning might not be so easy. To stake the optimum level of poker chips it is essential that you learn the fundamental strategies which can make the game favorable in your direction.

Poker is like a highly profitable investment where you can earn huge profits if played applying the right strategies. It is through practice that you can acquire the essential strategies. Beginners should stake lower amounts so that they can limit their losses and learn how to win. To take larger risks you require experience so that you can foresee your win, stake huge only if you genuinely have a chance to win the pot amount. An ideal place to start staking low is through online poker as they are much safer and involves lesser risk.

Understanding and acquiring knowledge of the basic poker strategy can help you win the pot in Texas Holdem. While playing poker you should have a clear understanding of when to call, fold or raise. Calculating pot odds and staking poker chip sets based on your hand and your opponents ‘tell’ is what can help you profit out of the game. Practice and observing the experts is what can help you play competently.

Strong hands need to be played with high level of confidence. Try to increase the amount in the pot as much as you can by staking huge and prompting your opponents staking hand in hand until the last betting round. Bluffing can be helpful at times regardless the strength of your hand, but the technique does not work at all times hence you should bluff only occasionally.

With a strong hand there is no reason to stay back from staking. Induce your opponents to stake huge so that the pot amount is increased and you can aim for a huge win. Experience in playing poker can help you acquire the essential strategy and play the game more focused and profitably.

A player when he is playing Texas Holdem he should be well aware of the ‘tell’ of his surrounding players. You should observe each and every move they make and relate your opponent’s expression to their stakes so that you can rightly judge their moves and play more skillfully.

Evaluating your previous games can help you understand where you have gone wrong and rectifying your mistakes thus helping you to prevent such mistakes from repeating. While playing poker you should know when to stop staking and it is possible only if you have set up your poker chips staking limits. If you are loosing too many games then it is better that you quit playing poker and try your luck some other day.

Gambling more than what you can afford is a foolish mistake on your part that can ruin the rest of your life and make you bankrupt, hence consider playing Texas Holdem only for fun and don’t get your greed out wit your financial status. Developing your own unique strategies and changing the style of your play in each of the game would help you escape from your opponents and they wouldn’t be able to guess what your next move would be.

Tony Shaunber has a strong knowledge of all the different varieties of poker. Tony can play this game all day but enjoys it more when using the popular Texas holdem poker chips. If there is a Texas Holdem poker tournament being organized Tony tries to make sure he gets to participate, even if they use the discount clay chip sets and not the costly versions.

Improve Your Approach In Playing Poker Online And Improve Your Chances Of Winning.

Friday, July 23rd, 2010

Poker is identified by many as a game that requires a lot of luck however it is obvious that winning at poker actually combines both luck and a very high level of playing skill. When you are able to successfully read the cards of your competition and can do correct guesses is far indeed from luck. Online poker in the U.S. is rapidly becoming a very popular online game amongst many internet gambling games. This is partially due to high-stakes televised poker tournaments.

Another is that many know the fact that this is a card game which may be won if you develop the proper methods and strategies. This means, skillful play adds a lot to winning chips at internet poker

Skill, when it comes to internet poker, plays a major part than luck. As luck decides which cards are dealt to you, skill and know-how are in command as to how you “play” the game. A skillful player will always finds a way in order to effectively come out of the game ahead.

Discipline

All skills and strategies in internet poker are very much centered on your discipline as a player.

You should have that self discipline to wait until you get that right option, good hand, good game etc.

Discipline suggests that you must never play in areas where you are short of edge, avoid participating in hands which will result in trouble and that you wisely and expertly control your money and play only with money that you can afford to lose as well as learn from all your mistakes.

Furthermore, you need to have the discipline to control your feelings always and never “go on tilt”.

Observation

Keep in mind that you will uncover a lot when you study your opponents regularly. Observe closely how each opposition plays their “hand” then use that observation against them. Listen to their comments. Many poker players will usually tell you the kind of “hand” they threw or their purpose as to why they “played a hand” that way.

As a result, each time you play a “hand” with them then you can determine their bets, checks, raises and calls mean.

But also, pay attention and be aware of your game and consider your table image always. This is because just like you are constantly searching for “tells” in your game opponents, you have to look for “tells” that you may be providing to your opponents. If you notice one in your competition, also consider if you are or not showing that same tell.

Changing tactics

A great poker player should be unpredictable, meaning you are capable of changing your tactics; how you do this is very much reliant to your “table image” as well as your opponent’s “table image”.

For instance, when throughout your many poker games you have never been caught bluffing, then you have a significant bluff edge. On the other hand, when you have always been bluffing and playing loose, then even if you are not bluffing, there is a big likelihood of getting paid when you are already in fact, holding a “good hand”.

The tactics here is that if your opponents play tight, then play looser; when they play loose, tighten your game up

Be a humble winner and a graceful loser

Just keep in mind that in gambling, you do not win all the time and you do not lose all the time. As they say, sometimes when on top of your skills more luck is on your side, then you win. So just enjoy the game above all. There will always be another day that could bring you a different kind of luck.

Deception is extremely important since this will make you “less predictable”.

All You Want To Know About Poker

Tuesday, July 20th, 2010

All variations in poker are played with a deck of playing cards and set of poker chips. A single deck of card set consists of 52 cards that have four different suites specifically hearts, spades, diamonds and clubs. Each suite has a total of fourteen cards ranging from Ace, King, Queen, Jack, Ten, nine to one. Even though there are a number of poker variations the basic rule of thumb is that the player with the highest hand wins the pot.

The most popular and commonly played poker variations include Texas Holdem, Omaha, Razz and seven card stud. There are only a few differences in the rules but the basics are the same and hence are similar in most of the ways. All the variations are played staking chips sets in different betting rounds and follow the same hand ranking chart. The rule that the highest hand wins is common in all the variations except in Hi/low variation.

A few poker games allow wild cards (joker) which can be used as substitutes for missing cards. Experienced and good players do not prefer wild cards and would like to play games that do not use wild cards as wild cards can change the probabilities and experienced players who win applying strategies would not be able to apply their skills if wild cards are used.

Whole cards and community cards are common terms that we come across while playing almost all variations in poker. A few variations that are played with community cards are Texas Holdem, Omaha and seven card studs. Whole cards are always dealt face down and are hence only visible to the player to whom it is dealt.

Community cards are cards that are dealt face up and are hence common to all; all the players can use a community card to form their hand. A majority of poker variations are played using both whole cards as well as community cards. Pre flop, flop, turn and river are the different betting rounds. Whole cards are usually dealt in the pre flop and community cards are dealt in the rest of the betting rounds.

In most of the poker games a predetermined hand ranking system is followed and the final winner is determined in the last betting round where the hands of the players are compared and the best hand is determined according to the predetermined chart, usually the player holding the highest hand wins the pot and can have the winning amount.

The royal flush tops the chart and is also considered to be the hardly obtainable hand; a player with such powerful hand is sure to take away the pot. There is no doubt in winning with a royal flush and hence such a hand can hardly be defeated. In Hi/low poker the rules are slightly different as a player with the lowest hand can also win the pot hence one pair hand would also be entitled to share a part of the pot in such a variation.

A royal flush is followed by various other ranks, after royal flush the ranking sequence are as follows straight flush, four of a kind, full house, flush, straight, three of a kind, two pair and high card. Poker is a game that can be learned easily as the rules are very easy to understand that once you start playing and gain experience you will be able to win more often than when you have started off.

Tony Shaunber is one of many skilled and talented players that loves a good challenging game. The more seasoned players can pick up a thing or two by watching Tony play at the poker tables. These veteran players should watch closely and not get side tracked by other poker accessories at the tables, or they’ll miss the more experienced moves that Tony plays.

Learning The Art Of Bluffing

Monday, June 28th, 2010

Bluffing is one technique that if applied in the right manner can win you the pot regardless the type of hand you are holding. Bluffing is not very easy to master that every poker player can be trained to bluff successfully; it is a special skill that can be practiced and applied only by a few players. Bluffing is the art of lying and falsely convincing your opponents that you have hands contrary to the stakes you are placing.

Bluffing without giving a single clue of what hand you are actually holding would win you huge amounts turning the game favorable and easy for you to acquire the pot. In order to bluff without getting caught you should know when and how to bluff. Choosing the right time to bluff will help you win the pot even if you have a weak hand.

Bluffing is not a technique that can be carried on every day or in every game. It is a technique that needs to be adopted sparingly. The frequency of bluffing should be limited hence even if you are very good at bluffing frequent bluffing may raise suspicion among your opponents and you would be easily caught in the act.

You should be aware of the situation in which you should be bluffing; often the best time to bluff is during the early rounds of betting where the stakes are not so high and there are lesser risks involved. You should be very much aware of the situation in which you’re going to bluff and try your luck bluffing if your opponents are having weaker or not so strong hands.

While bluffing makes sure that your expressions are not obvious and would reveal that your trick. If you are suspected of bluffing then your opponents would check your hand by calling which eventually will loose you your staked poker chip sets. To be a good bluffer you should stake considerable amount, if you sense your opponents have got weak hands, by staking about four times more than the big blind weaker opponents would definitely leave the game hence providing you the opportunity to be the final winner of the pot.

Each and every move you make and the expression you show up should be calculated so that you wouldn’t even provide the slightest information for being suspected by your opponents. While you are bluffing it is ideal to stake higher amounts so that your opponents would be reluctant to risk that much amount and hence would stay away from your path by folding their hands and let you win the pot.

Your bluff should not be too large and it would be ideal to restrict to four times the big blind so that even if someone calls, you wouldn’t have to incur huge losses. Poker players who bluff occasionally are better players and can earn huge profit than those who bluff very frequently.

Those who are experts in bluffing can never be even hinted upon and hence would be hard to determine whether they are actually bluffing, such players even if they seem to bluff at times may not be actually bluffing since they know very well to act and maintain the right expressions to confuse the opponents and would have the ability to convince them through their tell that they actually hold good hands.

Tony Shaunber loves a good game of poker. He’s a poker enthusaist and collects some of the finest clay poker chips available. For a good quality poker chip set check out his online store at magicacepoker.com.

Poker has come to be one of the best games in the world, thus deserving an all-star event to determine the best player. The World Series Of Poker, or World Series Of Poker for short, has set up this tournament with every intention of granting one million dollars to the winner of the 2010 World Series Of Poker TOC; being held at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino in stunning Las Vegas, Nevada, during the 41st Annual World Series Of Poker.

At a press conference, HIE Vice President Ty Stewart expressed his happiness of their ability to make a revamped poker game that could incorporate millions of fans around the world. He went on to explain that the opinions of several players have helped the idea evolve. He, as well as fans and players, hope that the tournament will be here for good.

Only 27 participants will play in the freeroll poker invitational, and seven of them will be dropped after the public votes on their favorite. Voting opened March 15, 2010 and continues until June 15, 2010 precisely at midnight. To qualify, each player must be a WSOP bracelet-holder. Any living bracelet-holder is eligible, and currently there are 521 players with eligibility. With three positions already guaranteed because previous WSOP TOC winners receive automatic entry, the reigning WSOP champ for both America and Europe get seats at the table, as well. That means that this year Mike Sexton, Barry Shulman, Joe Cada, Mike Matusow, and Annie Duke make up five out of the 27 players for the event.

TOC visitor Annie Duke feels that it is an honor to be part of tournaments, just like the TOC. She has been cited happily telling that winning the TOC was one moment in her poker career that she will never forget. She is just one of a few participants that are ecstatic about World Series Of Pokers involvement in hosting this event. Following the count of the votes and the announcement of the 20 participants that will move on, play will begin on June 27, 2010 at the Rio. Once it comes down to the final nine, they will be back on July 4, 2010 to try and claim their part of $1,000,000 and the 2010 World Series Of Poker Tournament of Champions Champion title.

People who do not make it this time are able to try again next year. Also, a final total of 57 sought-after gold bracelets are up for grabs this year, the same as last year. WSOP is the richest, biggest, and most exclusive gaming event. It has already granted over a billion dollars in prizes and bracelets, which is known worldwide as the sport’s top reward. If you’ve got the expertise, the time, and the poker face; why not try for your seat in the next World Series Of Poker tournament?
